Tennis Elbow

What is tennis elbow? Tennis elbow is a condition that is caused by the overuse or repetitive use of your forearm, which results in elbow pain. It is not only caused by playing tennis, but is very common in tennis players because of the repetitive motion of swinging the racquet. Tennis elbow is caused by injury to the tendon that surrounds the outside of the elbow. Tennis elbow pain is on the outside of the elbow and the pain is typically worse when squeezing objects. To treat tennis elbow you need to reduce the inflammation around your elbow by resting and applying ice typically gives you enough relief. Ibuprofen or a cortisone shot by your doctor might be necessary. After you have recovered from tennis elbow performing stretches and making sure to have the correct form while performing exercises can help prevent tennis elbow from returning.
