Strength Training for Runners

Runners love running…and typically they do not enjoy strength training, I get it! Running gives me a high that strength training just can’t do, but I understand how important strength training is to keep me injury free. You do not need to spend hours strength training each week, spending just 20 minutes 3 times a week could prepare your body for all those running miles. The most important areas we need to strength are our hips, quads, and hamstrings. Try the workout below. Perform 2-3 times through for a 20 minute workout.

10- Forward Lunges (each leg)

15- Bridges

15- Push Ups

15- Sumo Squats

10- Step ups each leg

45 sec. Mountain Climbers

10- Single Leg Dead lifts (each leg)

10- Side Lunge (each leg)

45 sec. Plank hold
