Perform the perfect sit up

Lets talk about exercise form…we have gone over other basic exercises like squats and push ups but today lets talk about sit ups! Sit-ups are a great exercise to work the entire abdominal muscle if performed correctly.

1. Begin by lying on your back with your knees bent, feet flat on the floor and shoulder width apart.

2. When you first begin performing sit-ups place your arms across your chest on opposite shoulders, this shortens your center of gravity and prevents you from pulling on your neck if you hands were behind your head.

3. Tighten your abdominal muscles by pulling your belly button into your spine.

4. As you exhale begin the exercise by lifting your head, shoulder blades, then torso off of the ground until you are at the top of your sit up

• Make sure there is space between your chin and your chest throughout the entire exercise

• Keep your feet planted on the ground

5. Inhale and begin rolling back one vertebra at a time, do not relax completely, keep your head and the top of your shoulder blades lifted off the floor and immediately repeat.
