Mason Jar Salad Tutorial

Many clients complain that one of the most difficult parts of living a healthy lifestyle is eating healthy while on the go. Today I want to share with you a recipe for a Mason Jar Salad. A Mason Jar Salad can easily be made ahead of time (typically stays fresh for up to 7 days) and put in a small cooler for an easy meal while out and about.
Now let’s learn how to put together a Mason Jar Salad!


Layer 1: Dressing
Layer 2: Hearty vegetables

  • Cucumbers, Broccoli, Onions, Tomatoes, Cauliflower

  • This layer is important because it protects the other ingredients from becoming soggy because of the dressing

Layer 3: Beans and/or less hearty vegetables

  • This could be any type of bean or mushrooms, green beans, or corn

Layer 4: Pasta or Grains

  • Pasta, Rice, Quinoa, Couscous

Layer 5: Protein and Cheese

  • Eggs, Shredded Chicken, Goat Cheese, Feta Cheese, Blue Cheese

Layer 6: Lettuce, Nuts, or Seeds

  • In the top layer you want to put anything that would get soggy if the dressing would reach it

The nice thing about Mason Jar Salads is you can customize them to whatever you want and you can make a few ahead of time to have a quick and easy lunch or dinner.
