Loaded Turnip Wedges


Oh man that Chief's game Sunday night was a doozy! Thankfully we had good food and great company to make it through! The boys decided they wanted loaded potato wedges as an appetizer so I had to try to find a way to give them what they wanted with out being completely unhealthy. Well let me tell you loaded TURNIP wedges were a success! Lets get to it!


(serves 4)

2 large Turnips

8 oz Grated Gouda Cheese (you could use what ever you like)

8 sliced Turkey Bacon

2 tbls Lawry's Seasoning Salt

2 tbls Olive Oil

Parchment Paper


Preheat the oven to 400° cut your turnip's into skinny wedges (my were not very pretty! it's easier said then done) toss the turnips with the olive oil and seasoning salt and place on a parchment paper lined baking dish. Make sure the turnips do not touch. Bake for 20 minutes flipping once. While they are cooking sauté your turkey bacon in a cast iron skillet and dice into small pieces. We removed the extra oil from the cast iron skillet before browning the turnips for about 2 minutes aside. Once again try not to over crowd the pan. Once the turnips are browned place them in the cast iron skillet and top with the cheese and turkey bacon. Serve immediately.
