Holiday Weight Gain :(

The holiday season has officially begun; unfortunately during this time Americans gain an average of 5-10lbs. We want to help you stay on track even during the holiday season. Below I have listed 5 tips to help fight the holiday season weight gain.

1. Don’t skip meals: When you get too hungry you are more likely to make poor eating choices. Before parties make sure to make good breakfast and lunch choices that way you are not starving by dinnertime causing you to binge eat.

2. Get Moving: Exercise regularly throughout the holidays. Even if it is only 30 minutes, anything is better then nothing!

3. Be in charge of your choices: You do not have to eat unhealthy through the holidays. Try and bring a dish that is healthy and you know you enjoy. Also just because someone offers one of their fresh baked cookies does not mean you HAVE to eat it. Saying no is allowed!

4. Limit the alcohol: Alcohol has a lot of unwanted calories and causes you to make poor food choices. Limit your self or skip it all together!

5. Cheat!: If you try and be perfect throughout the holidays I can guarantee you will fail! Do not withhold everything, just make the decisions as to what is important to you and eat it.
