Beginners Guide to Running

When trying to start any new workout it can seem intimidating. Below I have listed a few ways to begin running that will make it easier and more fun!


1. Consult a doctor: If you have never run before make sure there are no underlying conditions that will make it unsafe for you to start running.
2. Buy running shoes: Tennis shoes are so cute these days, but that does not mean they are appropriate for running. You can have your feet analyzed and make sure you are getting a shoe that is right for your foot
3. Sign up for a race: You can find beginner races like a run/walk. This will help keep you accountable and allow you to see progress.
4. Have a plan: there are amazing apps out there like the Couch to 5k app that will help ease you into running. Don’t go out the first day and expect to run 3 miles. Take it slow!
5. Walk: Work your way up to running for a certain duration of time. It does not hurt to walk. Have small goals like jogging for 3 minutes and then allowing your self a walk break.
6. Stick to a schedule: Certain days you will not feel like running but the only way to get better is to work on it. So don’t quit!
