Are you working out hard enough?

Everyone knows that you typically get out what you put in and this can certainly apply to exercising as well. Many people do not really push themselves when working and out the results can be less than desired. Others may feel as though they are killing themselves and not really getting the results that they want. Working out the right amount, the right pace, and working out smarter will help you achieve the fitness goals that you want. Listed below are a few things to look out for that may signal that you are not pushing yourself to your maximum potential.

1. You do the same workout everyday: Your body is amazing in that it will adapt to perform the workout more efficiently and you will gain less and less out of the same workout. Make sure to switch up your routine to keep your body guessing.

2. Your not reaching the right heart rate: Having a heart rate monitor will allow you to accurately maintain a high heart rate for cardio health or a lower heart to burn more fat.

3. You can talk normally throughout your exercise: Guidelines from the U.S. Office of Disease Prevention and Health Promotion state that you shouldn't be able to say more than a few words without needing to take a break. This will make sure that your workout is intense enough to improve cardiovascular health.

These are just a few guidelines that will help you to understand the right type of workout and correct intensity for you. Remember that working out too hard is not beneficial as you risk injury and you will not be able to maintain your pace for as long.
